Battle of the Bands

Location: Faraway Place (408 N. 3rd St. Wausau, WI)

Submission Deadline: Friday, January 15th 2027

Selections Announced: Sunday, January 31st 2027

BOTB: Sunday, March 28th 2027

We are looking for the next band to blow up in the Greater Wausau area to feature at the 2027 Wausau Summer Shindig on June 19th, 2027. The sophomore year of this community event is set to bring in over 10,000 attendees featuring 14+ hours of music, 40+ vendors and a street-full of food trucks. How will we know who is worthy of hitting the big stage? A Battle of the Bands of course.

Submission guidelines are as follows

  • Band members must belong to a graduating class in the range of 2027-2030

  • Band members must attend a high school in Central Wisconsin

  • To be considered, music should fall into one of the following:

    • Jam

    • Funk

    • Jazz

    • Soul

    • Ska

    • Psychedelic Rock

    • Alternative/Indie

    • Reggae

    • Feel-good, summertime music

    • Extra bonus points for original material

  • Send video submission to wausausummershindig@gmail.com with the following:

    • A little about the group, band name and members

    • Why you think you’d be a good fit

    • 1 full song performance recording

  • BOTB Trophy

The Winning Band Gets…

  • BOTB Trophy

  • Recognition across social media platforms

  • $100 Cash, $100 in Faraway Place gift cards

  • Opening Act of the Wausau Summer Shindig 2027

    • +$500 following The Shindig performance

To create a truly special and unforgettable day of original music and community for the Wausau area that continues to grow year after year.

  • We wish! Pets are not permitted on the 400 Block during special events.

  • Yes! You can absolutely bring chairs. We ask that no chairs are set up prior to 9am the day of the event. If you are bringing chairs, please ensure that they do not pass the marked area. We want to ensure that there is room to boogie for those who choose to partake.

  • We strongly recommend supporting the surrounding local businesses (Faraway Place, Intermission, The Mint Cafe, Forward Beverage, etc). Any alcoholic beverages purchased must be in a sealed container unless on the 400 Block or at point of purchase. Purchasing locally makes regulation far easier for the Police Department and everyone else involved. Please drink responsibly and if you’re under 21, don’t even think about it!

  • Yes! We will be providing a FREE water station.

  • A small group of local citizens that want to see a cool music event happen in Wausau’s Downtown.

  • This is a free to the public event! That being said (because it is entirely community funded), if you have the means to donate, please do so under the ‘Donate’ tab. Every little bit helps!
